Annual Toys For Tots Christmas Parade

which benefits McHenry Township children

Sunday, November 22 at 1:00 pm

The McHenry Toys For Tots Christmas Parade features a Marine Color Guard and a number of floats plus the man everyone is looking forward to seeing... Santa!  Last year's parade had over 350 motorcycles and each participant donated a toy to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Program.

The Parade begins on Main Street by the railroad station then east along Main to Green St., north to Pearl, east to Riverside Dr., north to Broad St., and west to Veterans Park.

Spectators are urged to bring at least one "new" unwrapped toy for a girl or boy to hand to the parade riders or to bring to the Marine ‘s collection point at Veterans Park. These toys will stay in our community and be distributed to low-income families in the McHenry Township area through the Toys For Tots Program.

After the parade, be sure to visit Santa in the gazebo in Veterans Park. At dusk, the festivities will end in the park with the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

 

Breakfast with Saint Nick

Knights of Columbus Council 9167 invites you and your family to Breakfast With St. Nick on Sunday, December 6th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the St. Johns Parish Hall (located in the school).  Donations for the breakfast are $7.00 for adults and teens over 12 years of age; $3.00 for children 3-12 and children under 3 are free.  All donations will go directly to St. John the Baptist School.  For more information, please contact Denise Decman at 815-675-6630.

Christmas of Yesteryear

Discover the hidden treasures of Christmas

at Richmond's "Christmas of Yesteryear".

This year's "Christmas of Yesteryear", being held on December 5th and 6th, you can enjoy the tree lighting at dusk,visit with Santa and much more. More details of the days events will follow shortly. Richmond has always been a town filled with treasures from the past. Although many shops have changed, many treasures are still to be found. Now, we have added a few more. Can you help find the hidden treasures of Christmas? English tradition recognizes the holiday period as being 12 days, from December 25th to January 6th. These days are represented by 12 gifts - one for each day. These gifts are listed in the traditional song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas". This year, participating merchants will have representation of these gifts hidden in their shops. Find all of them and your name will be entered into a grand prize drawing. Booklets with complete details and entry forms will be available from participating merchants during the "Christmas of Yesteryear" celebration. Come enjoy the fun and happy hunting!

Brush Drop-Off

McHenry Township provides for brush drop off on the third Saturday of each month. Brush can be dropped off at their facility at 3703 N. Richmond Road, Johnsburg, Illinois. For more information please contact McHenry Township at 815-385-5605.

Village Tree Lighting Event December 4, 2009

The Village of Round Lake invites all residents to join us for our Tree Lighting Event to be held on Friday, December 4th at 6pm at the Village Hall.  There will be hot chocolate, cookies and other goodies.  Santa will also be in attendance!
